How to play3

Before you start

Print cards with a 4×4 or 5×5 grid, each square a trait: “has been to Baguio”, “speaks three languages”, “is wearing red”. Hand out with a pen as people arrive.

  1. 1Find a person matching each square and have them sign it.
  2. 2One person may sign only one square on your card.
  3. 3First to complete a full line — or the full card for a long version — wins.

Host tips3
  • The single best game for the awkward first 10 minutes while people are still arriving — it starts without you.
  • Keep one square genuinely hard so the card is not finished in three minutes.
  • Have winners read out who signed what. That is where the actual conversations start.
Variants2
  • Company edition

Traits specific to the org: “has been here over 5 years”, “has met the CEO”.

  • Christmas edition

“Still has decorations up from last year”, “Has sung in a Simbang Gabi choir”.
