Before you start

Build the quiz on a live-quiz platform a few days ahead. Put the join code on screen as people sit down so they can join while you set up.

  1. 1Players join on their phones using the code on the screen.
  2. 2Each question appears on the big screen with a countdown; players tap their answer on their phone.
  3. 3Points go to correct answers, with extra for speed.
  4. 4The leaderboard shows after each question; top score at the end wins.

What to say3
  1. 1“Phones out! Join with the code on the screen.”
  2. 2“Faster answers get more points — but only if they're right!”
  3. 3“And in first place… table seven! Can anybody catch them?”
Host tips3
  • Wi-Fi collapses when 100 people join at once. Test the venue connection beforehand and have the paper version ready.
  • Not everyone has a smartphone or data, especially seniors and kids. Play in teams of one phone per table so nobody is left out.
  • Leave usernames to the host or the team. People will choose rude nicknames that then appear on the big screen.
Variants2
  • Team play

One phone per table. Better when not everyone has a phone or data, and the table discussions are fun to watch.

  • Paper version

Questions on screen, answers on paper. No Wi-Fi needed — the backup when the internet fails.
