Before you start
Split into teams of 5–8 lined up in single file. Place a chair or cone 5–8 m in front of each team. Hand out one spoon per player.
- 1Everyone holds their spoon by the handle in their teeth; hands go behind the back.
- 2The first player carries the calamansi on the spoon around the marker and back.
- 3They pass it to the next player's spoon — no hands allowed.
- 4If it drops, the player picks it up, puts it back on the spoon at the spot where it fell, and continues (or restarts, for a harder version). First team whose last player returns wins.
What to say3
- 1“Spoons in your mouths, hands behind your backs!”
- 2“Easy on the hand-off… easy… YES!”
- 3“Last runner for team Red — bring it home!”
Host tips3
- Sharing one spoon per team is a hygiene complaint waiting to happen. Give every player their own spoon and say so out loud.
- The hand-off is the whole game — players cheat with chins and hands there. Station one judge per two teams at the start line just for hand-offs.
- Calamansi are tiny and roll. Pick the roundest, largest ones and run a 30-second practice so people learn to tilt the spoon back.
Variants2
Hand-held
Hold the spoon in the hand instead of the mouth. Better for small kids, seniors and anyone with braces.
Christmas ball
Swap the calamansi for a small shatterproof Christmas ball for the office party.
Safety3
- Walking pace only with a spoon in the mouth; a fall can injure teeth and throat.
- Never substitute marbles or anything that small if kids are playing (choking).
- Citrus juice stings in eyes and small cuts — keep tissues handy.

- Sponge RelayTeams soak a sponge, run it to an empty bucket and squeeze it out; the first team to fill its bucket to the line wins.
- Santa's Sack RelayEach runner pulls on a Santa costume, carries the sack to the chimney, delivers one gift and hands the outfit to the next teammate.
